Why aren’t watches getting smaller?
It’s unimportant, but I noticed something odd this Christmas. See, my presents included a new wristwatch and a new Zune HD MP3 player. The Zune – 16 gigabytes of space for pictures, music, and videos, AM/FM radio, limited internet access, and a clock – is actually thinner than the watch – just a clock.
In an age where technology is constantly expanding in ability yet shrinking in physical size, I wonder why wristwatches remain roughly the same size as they’ve always been. I would have expected new wristwatches to be no thicker than a rubber Livestrong bracelet.
Any ideas?
1) Style – people like to show ff their watches like bling.
2) Batteries – We still can’t make them much smaller.
3) Vision – Make the display much smaller and only people with great vision could read them.
